Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the pure gold content of a jewellery piece?+
Pure gold = weight × (karat ÷ 24). A 10-gram 18K ring contains 10 × (18÷24) = 7.5 grams of pure gold. The remaining 2.5 grams are alloy metals.
What does 916 gold mean?+
916 means 91.6% pure gold — the hallmark for 22-karat gold. It is the most popular jewellery standard in South Asia, the Middle East, and the Gulf region.
Is 18K gold better than 22K?+
18K (75% gold) is harder and more durable — better for diamond-set jewellery. 22K (91.67%) is softer, richer in colour, and holds more intrinsic gold value. Choice depends on use-case.
How much is 24K gold worth per gram right now?+
The live spot price appears in the calculator once the page loads. It is the LBMA benchmark in USD per troy ounce divided by 31.1035 to get the per-gram price.
Can I sell gold for its melt value?+
Most buyers pay 90–98% of spot for scrap gold. Deduct the dealer spread and any refining fee. The value shown here is the theoretical melt value before those deductions.
